Schedules

What are your opening days and hours?

Do you offer makeup lessons?

Do you offer make-up lessons?

We absolutely do! You'll get free make-up lessons in the event that you can't make it to class.

For every Japanese lesson that you take, you are entitled to a free make-up lesson if you can't make it. In other words, if you take 4 lessons a month, you can book 4 make-up lessons.

Please note that you would need to be flexible in your schedule and that we cannot guarantee a group lesson student the ability to make-up the exact lesson.

Do you offer flex schedules?

We unfortunately do not offer flex schedules for both group and private lessons at Japan Switch. On the bright side, this is why we can charge 30 - 50% less than our competitors 🙂

At Japan Switch, you would need to commit to a fixed schedule for the entire month, but we do offer make-up lessons. You're also welcome to speak with us about changing to a ongoing different class time that works for you.

If your schedule is busy and you really need flexibility, we recommend our partners Coto Language Academy.

1 : Schedule a level check and school consultation using the contact form here.

2 :We will do a Japanese level check for you either online or in person in Tokyo.

3 : We will look at our schedule for the right lessons that match your goals and availability.

4 : You enroll and make the payment by debit or credit card for your first month of lessons and textbook.

5 : You start taking lessons at Japan Switch and start growing!

Payment Methods

We only accept payments from credit or debit cards. We do not accept cash or other forms of payment.

How Can I Get a Debit or Credit Card?

Automatic Deductions

Your monthly lesson fees will be automatically deducted from your credit & debit card for your second month and onward.

Do you give homework?

We do not directly assign homework for our classes. However, we have created a guides on how to learn Japanese outside of class using learning apps and other resources.

Here is an example of a guide we created for our students on how to learn Japanese vocabulary both inside and outside the classroom.

We also have guides on speaking, listening, reading, Kanji, YouTube channels, Apps to study, how to make Japanese friends, Japanese culture, Japanese customs, and even how to hack the JLPT coming in 01/2021

Group : How many students per class?

Offline Group Lessons

There is a maximum of six regular students per lesson. However, the maximum number per lesson are seven students.

Since we offer group lesson students 1 make up lesson monthly, the seventh student slot is left open for make up lesson students.

※ This number has been reduced to 5 during 2020 to reduce crowding.

Online Group Lessons

There are a maximum of 4 students per lesson.

How do I cancel my plan?

You have the option to leave and terminate your monthly continuing membership plan. You would need to come in person and sign a request to terminate the contract in person by the 15th of the previous month or previous school day in the case we are closed on the 15th.

For example, if you would like to cancel your lessons from June 1st, you would need to cancel your membership by May 15th of the previous month.

Japan Switch is the alternative to Japanese language schools in Tokyo. We have three branches that provide affordable daytime Japanese lessons to internationals who want to learn Japanese in Tokyo or online. We are the best choice for someone looking for a Japanese language school in Tokyo but wants to learn at a fair price point through both self-study and actual Japanese lessons. Our group Japanese lessons are ¥1,815 for 50 minute lessons and ¥3,630 for a 50 minute private lesson.

Although our Japanese lessons prioritize your wallet, our teachers are caring and supportive. Our methodology and teaching and learning materials have been designed for internationals learning Japanese to get the most out of group or private classes. We specialize in Japanese lessons for beginner Japanese learners up to low intermediate level N3 in Shinjuku and Akihabara/Ueno, Tokyo, and Online.

In addition to providing lessons, we also host international events in Tokyo and will also be doing Japanese cultural events. For those who want to learn Japanese in a relaxed and convenient environment near you, Japan Switch is the place to help you make the switch from a foreigner centered environment to making more Japanese friends and connections.
