"I love seeing my students grasp the subtle nuances of Japanese, learn new words and expressions, and eventually expressing their thoughts and emotions naturally."
Why did you become a Japanese teacher?
While living in the United States, I was involved in activities to preserve the history of Japanese immigrants and promote Japanese culture. During that time, I often received many questions about the Japanese language and culture. This not only helped me discover the joy of teaching but also made me realize how much I still had to learn myself. As I studied to answer those questions, I found I very much enjoyed learning alongside others. This naturally led me to pursue a career as a Japanese teacher.
What do you like about teaching Japanese?
I love seeing my students grasp the subtle nuances of Japanese, learn new words and expressions, and eventually expressing their thoughts and emotions naturally. Watching them become more confident and vibrant as they grow in their ability to communicate is incredibly rewarding. I also enjoy seeing how mastering Japanese enriches their lives in Japan, making their experiences freer and more fulfilling. Most of all, I cherish the joy of learning and growing together with my students.
How are your lessons?
My lessons focus on steady progress, using a textbook as the foundation while ensuring a fun and relaxed atmosphere. I support students in naturally incorporating Japanese into their daily lives. By including practical, everyday situations in the lessons, I aim to create an experience where students suddenly realize they are speaking Japanese with ease.
What are your hobbies?
I enjoy walking and discovering new places. There’s something delightful about the unexpected discoveries you make while strolling through a city. I also love relaxing at cafes, savoring delicious coffee and sweets. Those moments are pure bliss. Watching movies is another favorite hobby. While I enjoy watching films at home, there’s something special about the experience of going to a movie theater.
