"I hope to create a space where the students can ask any questions they may have, not only about the contents of the textbooks, but also about life in Japan."
Why did you become a Japanese teacher?
When I was 12 years old, I watched “Roman Holiday” with my mother and I remember I was impressed that there are completely different landscapes and languages in the world from Japan!
I am also a language learner, so I also know the hardships and joys of learning.
Many friends and teachers have helped me get to this point so far.
Now it is my turn to give back to the world.
What do you like about teaching Japanese?
The best moment is when students realize their own progress and excitedly share it with us! Another wonderful moment is when I hear about Japan from their perspective, and we get to talk about each other’s countries, which deepens our mutual understanding. No two days are the same - every day brings new experiences and lessons.
How are your lessons?
I would like people to forget their busy daily lives for a while, talk a lot, laugh together, and just have fun with Japanese.
I hope to create a space where the students can ask any questions they may have, not only about the contents of the textbooks, but also about life in Japan, things they find interesting or wondering during their travels, or any other problems they may encounter.
Please feel free to talk about anything!
What are your hobbies?
Playing the piano, traveling, watching movies, staying up late to catch up on dramas, watching BBC Earth, exploring views from around the world on YouTube, taking walks in nature, listening to the sound of the waves, exercising, enjoying a good drink, and thinking about the origins of words my children use that I’ve never heard before…
