"I love the look in my students' eyes and the sparkle of their brilliant, interesting faces the moment they understand Japanese well."
Why did you become a Japanese teacher?
When I was studying French at a language school in Paris, I met a lot of fascinating teachers who had a great sense of humor and loved their language and culture. The classes were lively and well organized and I learned a lot not only about the language but also in terms of idea-exchange. The interesting stories they told in class left a strong impression on me that I still recall more than 20 years later. These experiences led me to consider becoming a teacher of my native language.
What do you like about teaching Japanese?
I love the look in my students' eyes and the sparkle of their brilliant, interesting faces the moment they understand Japanese well. I also enjoy sharing so much of the world between them and me. I always try to keep these intellectual curiosities alive for both them and me.
How are your lessons?
I try to make the lessons fun, lively, not to be missed and not to put you to sleep. Don’t be shy, talk a lot and try to use the phrases in Tokyo!
What are your hobbies?
Walking in the woods with my dog, home parties in the garden, watching TV dramas and reality shows (my recent favorites are ‘Silent,’ ‘My Unorthodox Life,’ and ‘First Love~Hatsu Koi~’).
