Q: How are your lessons?
I like to mixture the balance between friendly and supportive while also being the Sensei. I like to teach my students new Japanese words but also challenge them to improve their Japanese pronunciation because having a good accent is really impressive and I want to get my students to start thinking about it from the beginning.
I will give you corrections, but also support you and make you try things again until you get it right. I also like to teach my students about cultural points and answer their questions about Japanese culture and people. The more students I speak with, I feel the more I am really getting to understand how foreigners experience Tokyo and Japan.

My lessons are interesting and challenging. It is interesting because I learn formal and informal ways to speak Japanese. I learn the difference in words or phrases that may mean the same thing when speaking Japanese. I am learning the correct way to speak in different types of situations. It is challenging because I am learning to speak, write and read a language that is new to me. My lessons are are mixed with conversation, new vocabulary, writing and repetition until it is engraved into my brain. I can use what I learned from my lessons as soon as I step out of the classroom and communicate with the locals. It gives me a feeling of self gratification!
Q: What do you like about teaching?
I always knew I would be doing something to help people and after doing many things, I think I have found my true calling and I have been able to meet many interesting foreigners in Japan and not only help with their Japanese lessons, but really help them in acclimating to Japanese society and supporting you with the challenges you face in your daily life. I think most schools focus only on the lessons, but tend to neglect supporting there students outside of lessons, so I am glad to be teaching both group and private lessons, but especially private lessons because I have more time to communicate with my student and really get to understand their challenges and support them with learning the language but making Tokyo a much easier place to live on. I am excited to help make Tokyo a more diverse city together with you.
Q: What are your hobbies?
My hobbies are wide ranging and will probably surprise you because they are quite different. One is outdoor activities like trekking, cycling and fishing. I also love dance music like disco and house.
