Why do you want to learn Japanese?
I would like to live in Tokyo long-term if possible and develop my business here, so I would like to learn Japanese to make more friends, explore and experience Japanese cultural and design deeply, and also use it to help expand my business and get more clients in Tokyo and Japan in general.
Why did you choose Japan Switch?
I am currently taking 2 group lessons a week at the Tokyo Japanese language school.
What obviously attracted to me at first was the price. I wanted to take many lessons and learn Japanese as fast as possible without spending too much money. I also liked how I did not need to make a large initial commitment and up front payment before joining and that I can test out group lessons and private lessons to see what is the right match for my learning style and pace.
I am looking for what study method works best for me and I am glad I get a chance to explore what works for me without having to be stuck to a contract for 6 months. The monthly system rocks and the prices are affordable and cheaper than other schools out there.
How are your lessons?
I would have liked a bit more grammar practice instead of the all speaking approach. This is only my second month and Japan Switch claim that learning grammar after speaking is a more effective approach. I will have to wait and see. However, to their credit, they provide multiple guides on how to learn Japanese outside of the classroom and how I can learn grammar to compliment my lessons at Japan Switch.
My teacher at Japan Switch is Wada Sensei. Her lessons are relaxed and she goes out of her way to make us feel comfortable. She also makes sure that her lessons are educational at the same time and that it helps make learning the Japanese language less intimidating.
How did Japan Switch surprise you?
I liked how the Japan Switch staff were honest with what the school can offer and not offer to its students. I got the sense they care about their students and really want to help their students learn Japanese despite how much cheaper the lessons are compared to other schools. They have taken pretty good care of me and that has been helpful since it is only my second month in Japan and I look forward to improving my Japanese language skills.
Japan Switch is a great school for someone who is unable to commit to an intensive lesson and wants to take lessons several times a week.
